Seasons

Seasons are events based on holidays or other occasions in Cookie Clicker that unlock special upgrades and achievements, and alter gameplay.

The first season introduced was Halloween Season in October 2013, followed by Christmas Season in December 2013, Valentine's Day Season in February 2014, Business Day Season in April 2014, and Easter season in May 2014. Prior to version 1.041 seasons remained in effect until the next season was introduced. Since version 1.041 the "Season Switcher" upgrade allows a player to change seasons at will (for a cost), which lasts for 24 hours before reverting to the latest season. From version 1.0466 on seasons are automatically triggered for a defined period of time around the related holiday (see the page of the season in question for details). Outside these periods Cookie Clicker runs in default mode without any season specific events and changes. Though flavored cookies, eggs etc. purchased during a season will remain and stay active with their respective effects.

Season switcher upgrade

The Season Switcher is a heavenly upgrade that can be purchased during ascension for 1,111 heavenly chips. It unlocks the season biscuits, which allow the player to manually activate any seasons at any time. A manually activated season will last for 24 hours. As of version 2 of Cookie Clicker, the timer for seasons triggered with season biscuits will keep running even when the game is closed. They now last for 24 hours in real time instead of 24 hours of active play.

Each season biscuit costs $1,111,111,111 \times 2^n$cookies, where n is the total number of season biscuits purchased – in other words, the price doubles with each purchase.

Bugs

• Sometimes, when the Business Day season ends, the names of each building and picture will stay the same until one building is purchased. To return names and pictures to normal, buy one of each building or refresh the page.
